Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) set out on a journey. He continued traveling throughout the night. He passed by a man who was sitting by the edge of a pond. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: O man of the pond! Did wild beasts drink from this pond last night? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to that man: “O owner of the pond! Do not inform him about this matter. This person is cautious. Whatever the wild beasts have drunk belongs to them, and whatever remains is for us to drink.”
