Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Azhar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passing among the people, inquiring about the place where Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) was staying. A man who was intoxicated and senseless was brought before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so, on his command, the people around him beat that man with their hands, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself threw dust on him. Then, during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), an intoxicated man was brought before him, so he punished him by having him lashed forty times.
