Saeed bin Musayyib narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) fixed the blood money (diyah) of a Jew and a Christian at four thousand dirhams, while the diyah of a Magian was fixed at eight hundred dirhams. Shu’bah says: I asked my teacher Hakam, “Did you hear this hadith directly from Saeed?” He replied, “No! Although if I had wanted, I could have heard it from him; I heard this hadith from Thabit Haddad.” Shu’bah says: Then I met Thabit Haddad, and he narrated this hadith to me.
