Hadith 3286

نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْفَارِسِيُّ ، نَا إِسْحَاقُ ، أنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " فَرَضَ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ قَتَلَ رَجُلا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ ، أَرْبَعَةَ آلافِ دِرْهَمٍ ، وَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَعَلَ عَقْلَ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ عَقْلِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ " .
Amr bin Shu'aib narrates: If a Muslim kills a person from the People of the Book, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has made it obligatory to pay four thousand dirhams (as compensation). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) set the blood money (diyah) for a Jew or Christian from the People of the Book as half of the blood money of a Muslim.
