نَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ ، نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، نَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أنا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، أنا يَعْلَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ . ح وَنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ نَا أَبُو السَّائِبِ ، نَا يَزِيدُ ، أنا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ لِمَاعِزِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ حِينَ أَتَاهُ فَأَقَرَّ عِنْدَهُ بِالزِّنَا : " لَعَلَّكَ قَبَّلْتَ أَوْ لَمَسْتَ " ، فَقَالَ : لا ، قَالَ : " فَكَذَا ؟ " ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ " . وَقَالَ ابْنُ سِنَانٍ : " لَعَلَّكَ قَبَّلْتَ أَوْ غَمَزْتَ أَوْ نَظَرْتَ " ، قَالَ : لا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَفَعَلْتَ كَذَا ؟ " ، لا يُكَنِّي ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ أَمَرَ بِرَجْمِهِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When Sayyiduna Ma'iz bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and confessed to adultery before him, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Ma'iz: "It is possible that you only kissed, or only touched?" He replied: "No." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is it so (i.e., did you actually commit adultery)?" He replied: "Yes." So, under the order of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he was stoned to death. The narrator named Ibn Sinan has reported these words: "Perhaps you kissed, you touched with your hand, or you looked?" He replied: "No." The narrator states: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "Did you do this (i.e., adultery)?" (The narrator states:) The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not use any indirect expression, so he replied: "Yes." (The narrator states:) At that time, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to be stoned to death.
