Hadith 3225

نَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، نَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَخْزَمَ ، نَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، نَا أَبِي ، سَمِعْتُ يَعْلَى بْنَ حَكِيمٍ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ لِمَاعِزٍ : " لَعَلَّكَ قَبَّلْتَ ، لَعَلَّكَ لَمَسْتَ ، قَالَ : لا ، قَالَ : فَلَعَلَّكَ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ : أَمَرَ بِرَجْمِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Ma'iz (may Allah be pleased with him): "Perhaps you only touched (her)?" He replied: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did you (actually commit adultery)?" He replied: "Yes." The narrator states: After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned.
