بَابُ حُكْمِ الْمَاءِ إِذَا لَاقَتْهُ النَّجَاسَةُRuling on Water When It Comes in Contact with Impurity
Hadith 32

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا أَبُو حُمَيْدٍ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ، ثنا حَجَّاجٌ ، نا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَنَّ يَحْيَى بْنَ عُقَيْلٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنْ يَحْيَى بْنَ يَعْمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا كَانَ الْمَاءُ قُلَّتَيْنِ لَمْ يَحْمِلْ نَجِسًا وَلا بَأْسًا " . فَقُلْتُ لِيَحْيَى بْنِ عَقِيلٍ : قِلالُ هَجَرَ ؟ قَالَ : قِلالُ هَجَرَ ، فَأَظُنُّ أَنَّ كُلَّ قُلَّةٍ تَأْخُذُ فِرْقَيْنِ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٌ ، وَأَخْبَرَنِي لُوطٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا كَانَ الْمَاءُ قُلَّتَيْنِ فَصَاعِدًا لَمْ يُنَجِّسْهُ شَيْءٌ " .
Yahya bin Aqil narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "When water reaches two qullahs, it does not become impure, and there is no harm in using it." The narrator states: I asked my teacher Yahya bin Aqil, "Does this refer to the pitchers of Hajar?" He replied: "It refers to the pitchers of Hajar." So I estimated: one qullah is equal to two faraqs. Mujahid narrates this statement from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "When water is two qullahs or more, nothing makes it impure."
