نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ النُّعْمَانِيُّ ، نَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجَرْجَرَائِيُّ ، نَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ مُبَارَكٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا قَوَدَ إِلا بِالسَّيْفِ " ، قَالَ يُونُسُ : قُلْتُ لِلْحَسَنِ : عَنْ مَنْ أَخَذْتَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ بَشِيرٍ يَذْكُرُ ذَلِكَ.
Hasan al-Basri narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Retribution (qisas) can only be carried out by means of the sword." The narrator named Yunus states: I asked Hasan al-Basri, "From whom did you hear this hadith?" He replied: I heard Sayyiduna Nu'man ibn Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) mention this.
