Hadith 3161

نَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، نَا يَحْيَى ، نَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ ، نَا هِشَامٌ ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ نَحْوَهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ : رَجَمْتَهَا ، وَقَالَ : " لَوْ تَابَهَا أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ لَوَسِعَتْهُمْ ، هَلْ وَجَدْتَ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ أَنْ جَادَتْ بِنَفْسِهَا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ! " ،.
This narration is also transmitted with another chain, however, in it the words are: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted to you: "You stoned him (and now you are also performing his funeral prayer)?" So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If all the people of Madinah were to repent like him, it would be sufficient for all of them. Can you find anyone better than the one who gives his life for the sake of Allah?"
