حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ، نَا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، نَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، نَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ . ح وَنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ ، نَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ . ح وَنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْيَقْطِينِيُّ ، نَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، نَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، نَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، نَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، " إِنَّهُ زُنِيَ بِفُلانَةَ ، امْرَأَةٌ سَمَّاهَا ، فَبَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْمَرْأَةِ فَسَأَلَهَا ، فَأَنْكَرَتْ فَرَجَمَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَتَرْكَهَا " .
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, “O Messenger of Allah! He has committed adultery with such-and-such woman.” He also mentioned the name of the woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent a man to that woman, who inquired from her about (this accusation). The woman denied it, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had the man stoned and left the woman (i.e., did not punish her).
