نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ، نَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، نَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ ، نَا أَبِي ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الأَجْرَدِ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ الأَشْتَرِ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، " إِنَّا إِذَا خَرَجْنَا مِنْ عِنْدَكِ سَمِعْنَا أَشْيَاءَ فَهَلْ عَهِدَ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا سِوَى الْقُرْآنِ ؟ ، قَالَ : لا ، إِلا مَا فِي هَذِهِ الصَّحِيفَةِ فِي عِلاقَةِ سَيْفِي ، فَدَعَا الْجَارِيَةَ فَجَاءَتْ بِهَا ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَرَّمَ مَكَّةَ ، وَإِنِّي أُحَرِّمُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَهِيَ حَرَامٌ مَا بَيْنَ حَرَّتَيْهَا ، أَنْ لا يُعْضَدَ شَوْكُهَا ، وَلا يُنَفَّرُ صَيْدُهَا ، فَمَنْ أَحْدَثَ حَدَثًا أَوْ آوَى مُحْدِثًا فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ ، وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ يَدٌ عَلَى مَنْ سِوَاهُمْ ، تَتَكَافَأُ دِمَاؤُهُمْ ، وَيَسْعَى بِذِمَّتِهِمْ أَدْنَاهُمْ ، لا يُقْتَلُ مُسْلِمٌ بِكَافِرٍ ، وَلا ذُو عَهْدٍ فِي عَهْدِهِ " ،.
Malik al-Ashtar narrates: I presented myself before Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). I said: "O Commander of the Faithful! When we left your presence, we heard some things. Did the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) give you anything special besides the Qur'an?" Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "No, only this scroll which is in the hilt of my sword." Then Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) called for the slave girl, and she brought the scroll. (It was written in it that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said): "Indeed, Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) declared Makkah a sanctuary, and I declare Madinah a sanctuary, between its two stony tracts. Its thorn is not to be broken, its game is not to be chased away. Whoever introduces an innovation here or gives refuge to an innovator, upon him is the curse of Allah, His angels, and all people. All the believers, compared to others, are like one hand; their blood is equally important, the protection given by any common person among them will be accepted, and no Muslim can be killed in retaliation for a disbeliever."
