نَا أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي شُعَيْبٍ ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَوْجَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ أُصِيبَ بِدَمٍ أَوْ خَبْلٍ ، وَالْخَبْلُ عَرَجٌ ، فَهُوَ بِالْخِيَارِ بَيْنَ إِحْدَى ثَلاثٍ ، فَإِنْ أَرَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَخُذُوا عَلَى يَدَيْهِ ، بَيْنَ أَنْ يُقْتَصَّ ، أَوْ يَعْفُوَ ، أَوْ يَأْخُذَ الْعَقْلَ ، فَإِنْ قَبِلَ شَيْئًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ عَدَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَلَهُ النَّارُ خَالِدًا فِيهَا مُخَلَّدًا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Shurayh Khuza'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever is killed or suffers injury (the narrator says: by injury is meant lameness), then he has the choice of three things. If he seeks a fourth option, restrain his hand (i.e., do not allow it). (The three options are:) He may take retribution (qisas), or forgive, or accept blood money (diyah). If he chooses one of these options, but then seeks more after that, he will go to Hell, where he will remain forever."
