نَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، نَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ . ح وَنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، نَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الشَّامِيِّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ادْرَءُوا الْحُدُودَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ عَنِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، فَإِنْ وَجَدْتُمْ لِلْمُسْلِمِ مَخْرَجًا فَخَلُّوا سَبِيلَهُ ، فَإِنَّ الإِمَامَ لأَنْ يُخْطِئَ فِي الْعَفْوِ ، خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يُخْطِئَ فِي الْعُقُوبَةِ " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As much as you are able, keep the hudud (prescribed punishments) away from the Muslims. If you find any way out for a Muslim, then provide him that way out, for it is better for the ruler (or judge) to err in pardoning than to err in punishing."
