Amr bin Harish narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr: We live in a place where dinar and dirham are not in use. We buy camels and goats on the condition of payment after a fixed period. What is your opinion about this? He replied: You have asked a person who knows about this. Once, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave camels from the camels of charity for a battle, until the camels were finished, but some people remained who did not have animals for riding. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Buy some camels for us, which will be in exchange for young she-camels that will be received as charity. When the charity comes, we will pay those people." The narrator says: So I bought one camel in exchange for two or three young she-camels, until I was done. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) paid for it from the camels of charity.
