ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَحْرٍ الْعَطَّارُ بِالْبَصْرَةَ ، نَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصَّفَّارُ ، نَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ قَنَّةَ ، نَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " بَعَثَ سَرِيَّةً عَلَيْهَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، فَمَرَّ بِقَرْيَةٍ فَإِذَا مَلِكُ الْقَرْيَةِ لَدِيغٌ ، فَسَأَلْنَاهُمْ طَعَامًا فَلَمْ يُطْعِمُونَا وَلَمْ يُنْزِلُونَا ، فَمَرَّ بِنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقَرْيَةِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا مَعْشَرَ الْعَرَبِ هَلْ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ يُحْسِنُ أَنْ يَرْقِيَ ؟ إِنَّ الْمَلِكَ يَمُوتُ ، قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ : فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ فَأَفَاقَ وَبَرَأَ ، فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا بِالنُّزُلِ وَبَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا بِالشَّاءِ ، فَأَكَلْنَا الطَّعَامَ أَنَا وَأَصْحَابِي ، وَأَبَوْا أَنْ يَأْكُلُوا مِنَ الْغَنَمِ حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ الْخَبَرَ ، فَقَالَ : وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ أَنَّهَا رُقْيَةٌ ؟ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، شَيْءٌ أُلْقِيَ فِي رَوْعِي ، قَالَ : فَكُلُوا وَأَطْعِمُونَا مِنَ الْغَنَمِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) dispatched an expedition, of which Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) was the leader. They passed by a village whose chief had been bitten by a poisonous creature. We asked those people for food, but they refused to give us any food and did not even allow us to camp (so we camped outside the village). A man from that village passed by us and said, "O people of Arabia! Does anyone among you know how to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing)? Our chief is dying." So Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri said: I went to him and recited Surah Al-Fatihah over him as ruqyah, and he was cured. Those people sent us food and sheep. My companions and I ate the food, but my companions refused to (slaughter or eat the meat of) the sheep until we came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and informed him about this. He asked, "How did you know that it (Surah Al-Fatihah) could be used as ruqyah?" I replied, "O Messenger of Allah! This thought just came to my mind." The Prophet said, "Eat from those sheep (their meat), and give us some to eat as well."
