Daraqutni

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent us, thirty horsemen, on an expedition. We camped near a settlement of an Arab tribe. We requested hospitality from them, but they refused. The narrator states: The chief of the tribe was bitten (by a poisonous creature). They came to us and asked: "Is there anyone among you who can perform ruqyah (incantation) for a scorpion bite?" The narrator states: I replied, "Yes, I can, but I will not do it unless you pay us (a compensation)." They said, "We will give you thirty goats (as compensation)." The narrator says: I recited Surah Al-Fatihah seven times over that person and performed ruqyah, and he was cured. When we received the goats, we felt some hesitation about it, so we did not consume the meat of those goats. Then, when we presented ourselves before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this matter to him, he asked: "How did you know that it (Surah Al-Fatihah) can be used for ruqyah?" (I replied: You had informed us.) So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Distribute them among yourselves and keep my share with you as well."
