Sayyiduna Alqamah bin Nadlah Kinani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), the houses of Makkah were given to people; they were not sold. Whoever was in need would reside there, and whoever was not in need would leave them for others to live in.
