ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ بُهْلُولٍ ، نَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ، أنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ أَبِي قُرَّةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ حَبَّانَ بْنِ وَاسِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عُمَرُ : " لَمَّا اسْتُخْلِفَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنِّي نَظَرْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْ لَكُمْ فِي بُيُوعِكُمْ شَيْئًا أَمْثَلَ مِنَ الْعُهْدَةِ الَّتِي جَعَلَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِحَبَّانَ بْنَ مُنْقِذٍ ، ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ، وَذَلِكَ فِي الرَّقِيقِ " .
Hibban bin Wasi' narrates from his father, from his grandfather, that when Sayyiduna Umar was appointed as the Caliph, he said: "O people! I have considered this matter and I have found that among your transactions, the thing most similar to what was in the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the option (of choice), which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave to Hibban bin Munqidh for three days, and this incident occurred regarding a slave."
