Nafi’ reports that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) informed him that there was an Ansari whose tongue had some stammering, and he would always incur a loss in transactions. He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this matter to him. The Prophet said: “When you sell something, say twice: ‘There will be no loss.’” It is narrated about Sayyiduna Munqidh bin Amr that he had received a head injury, which affected his speech, and his mental state had also changed somewhat. He used to trade, and he would always incur a loss in business. He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this matter to him. The Prophet said: “When you sell something, say: ‘There will be no loss.’ Then, for whatever goods you buy, you will have the right (of option) for three days. If after three days you are satisfied, keep it; and if you do not like it, return it to its owner.” This companion lived a very long life; he lived for one hundred and thirteen years. In the time of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), when people had spread everywhere, their numbers had increased, and there was much trading in the market, he used to buy and sell in the market at that time.
