Abdul Malik bin Jubair narrates: I was present with Abu Ubaidah, the son of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud, when two men came to him. They had made a transaction for something. One said, "I acquired this item for such and such an amount." The other said, "I sold this item for such and such an amount." So, Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah informed that this case had been presented before Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), and he had stated: I was present with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) when a similar case was brought before him. The Prophet gave this ruling regarding the seller: "He should take an oath, then after that, the buyer will have the choice—if he wishes, he may take it, and if he wishes, he may leave it." This narration is also present with another chain of transmission.
