Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Suwad bin Ghaziyyah, who belonged to Banu 'Adi, and appointed him as the overseer of Khaybar. He used to bring fine dates from there. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Are all the dates of Khaybar like this?" He replied: "No, O Messenger of Allah, by Allah! I have bought one sa' in exchange for two sa' and two sa' in exchange for three sa' of good dates." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not do so. Rather, first sell them, then buy (the good dates) with their price. Do the same with all things that are weighed." Imam Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Every type of date whose specific name is not determined is called 'jum'a', as in: 'There is jum'a (i.e., various types of dates) in so-and-so's land.'
