Hadith 2800

ثنا أَبُو رَوْقٍ الْهِزَّانِيُّ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَكْرٍ ، نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رَوْحٍ الأَهْوَازِيُّ ، نَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ، سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ كَثِيرٍ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : " قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُمْ يُسْلِفُونَ فِي التَّمْرِ السَّنَتَيْنِ وَالثَّلاثَ ، فَقَالُ : مَنْ أَسْلَفَ فَلْيُسْلِفْ فِي كَيْلٍ مَعْلُومٍ ، أَوْ وَزْنٍ مَعْلُومٍ ، إِلَى أَجَلٍ مَعْلُومٍ " .
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came to Madinah, people used to make advance sales of dates for two or three years. So he said: "Whoever makes an advance sale should do so for a specified measure, a specified weight, and for a specified period."
