ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، نا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي جَدِّي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ سَعْدٍ ، وَكَانَ يُسَمَّى الصَّرْمُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْتَ سَعِيدُ ، فَأَيُّنَا أَكْبَرُ أَنَا أَوْ أَنْتَ ؟ " ، فَقَالَ : أَنَا أَقْدَمُ مِنْكَ ، وَأَنْتَ أَكْبَرُ مِنِّي ، وَأَنْتَ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي .
Umar bin Uthman narrates from his father, from his grandfather: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to him: "You are Sa'id. Which of us is older, me or you?" So he replied: "I was born before you, but you are greater than me and you (peace be upon you) are better than me."
