Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people! Hajj has been made obligatory upon you." So a man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Every year?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not answer him. He repeated the question and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Is it every year?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who is the one asking this?" The people said: "So-and-so person." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, if I had said yes, it would have become obligatory. If it had become obligatory, you would not have been able to do it, and if you could not do it, you would have become disbelievers." Then Allah revealed this verse: "O you who believe! Do not ask about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble."
