Hadith 2612

نا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، نا عَمِّي ، نا أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، أَنَّ عَطَاءَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْحَجِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " احْجُجْ عَنْهُ ، أَلا تَرَى أَنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ يُجْزِي عَنْهُ ؟ " ، قَالَ : بَلَى ، قَالَ : " فَحَقُّ اللَّهِ أَحَقُّ " .
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A man asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about performing Hajj on behalf of his father. The Prophet said: "Perform Hajj on his behalf. Have you not considered that if your father had a debt and you paid it off for him, would it be fulfilled?" The man replied: "Yes!" So the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah is more deserving (that His debt be fulfilled)."
