Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), "My father has passed away and he did not perform Hajj." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What do you think? If your father had a debt and you paid it off on his behalf, would it be accepted?" He replied, "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then perform Hajj on his behalf as well."
