Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father (Muhammad al-Baqir, may Allah have mercy on him) the statement of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reached near the hill of Safa, he recited this verse: "Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah." (Then the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said:) "Begin with that which Allah mentioned first." (The narrator states:) Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) began (the Sa'i) from Safa.
