It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), as a marfu’ hadith: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fixed Dhu’l-Hulayfah as the miqat for the people of Madinah, Juhfah for the people of Sham, Qarn (in one narration, the wording is Qarn al-Manazil) for the people of Najd, and Yalamlam for the people of Yemen. This is for those regions and for those coming from their direction. Whoever intends Hajj or ‘Umrah, but whoever resides within these places (on the side towards Makkah)—(in one narration, these words are mentioned)—he will enter into ihram from his home, (and in another narration, these words are mentioned) he may enter into ihram from wherever he wishes, until even the people of Makkah will enter into ihram from within Makkah itself.
