Hadith 2489

نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، نا عُثْمَانُ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى : الْحَجُّ أَشْهُرٌ مَعْلُومَاتٌ سورة البقرة آية 197 ، لِئَلا يُفْرَضُ الْحَجُّ فِي غَيْرِهِنَّ " .
Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Allah Almighty has stated: "The months of Hajj are appointed." The reason for this is that no person should enter into the state of Ihram for Hajj before this.
