Muhammad bin Hudhayfah narrates: We used to relate the hadith of Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) to each other. He used to live in a settlement on the outskirts of Kufa. I thought that if I went to him and heard this hadith from him myself, it would be appropriate. So I went to him. I said: A hadith has reached me from you; I wish to hear it directly from you. The narrator says: Sayyiduna ‘Adi said: When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent, I fled to a distant part of the Islamic state. Then I thought that I should present myself to this man; if he is truthful, I will accept his word. When I came (to him), people stood up for me. The narrator says: (After that, he narrated the entire hadith to me, in which it is mentioned:) The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: “Have you been to Hira?” I replied: “No! But I know its location.” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “A time will soon come when a woman will depart from there without anyone’s protection, until she (reaches Mecca and) circumambulates the Ka‘bah.” Sayyiduna ‘Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Then I saw a woman who set out from Hira and (upon reaching Mecca) circumambulated the Ka‘bah. This narration is brief.
