حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو طَالِبٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَصْرِ بْنِ طَالِبٍ ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ ، أنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ النَّصِيبِيُّ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ أَوْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا نزلت هَذِهِ الآيَةُ : وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلا سورة آل عمران آية 97 ، قَامَ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا السَّبِيلُ ؟ قَالَ : " الزَّادُ وَالرَّاحِلَةُ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates: When this verse was revealed: "And it is obligatory upon the people for the sake of Allah to perform Hajj to the House, for whoever is able to find a way thereto," a man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by "way" (sabeel) here? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Provision for the journey and a means of transportation."
