حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ السُّكَيْنِ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَهْضَمٍ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " فَرَضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ عَنِ الْعَبْدِ ، وَالْحُرِّ ، وَالذَّكَرِ وَالأُنْثَى ، وَالصَّغِيرِ وَالْكَبِيرِ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، وَأَمَرَ بِهَا أَنْ تُؤَدَّى قَبْلَ خُرُوجِ النَّاسِ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made it obligatory to give one sa’ of dates or one sa’ of barley as zakat al-fitr on behalf of every slave or free person, male and female, every minor and adult Muslim. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that it should be given before the people go out to perform the Eid prayer.
