حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَدَقَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ خَارِصًا فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أَبَا حَثْمَةَ قَدْ زَادَ عَلَيَّ فِي الْخَرْصِ ، فَدَعَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ ابْنَ عَمِّكَ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّكَ زِدْتَ عَلَيْهِ فِي الْخَرْصِ " ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، لَقَدْ تَرَكْتُ لَهُ قَدْرَ خُرْفَةِ أَهْلِهِ وَمَا يُطْعِمُ الْمَسَاكِينَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَدْ زَادَكَ ابْنُ عَمِّكَ وَأَنْصَفَ " .
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Huthmah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent him to estimate (the value). A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Abu Huthmah, while estimating, has made us liable to pay more." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called him and said: "Your cousin says this; you have made him liable to pay more in estimation." (The narrator says) I said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have left him with so many extra dates so that he can feed his family and also feed the poor." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Your cousin has given you more concession and has acted justly."
