Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): "On land that is irrigated by rain, canal, or spring, payment of one-tenth (ushr) is obligatory, and on land that is irrigated by bucket (i.e., by artificial means), payment of half of one-tenth (half-ushr) is obligatory."
