Ibn Abu Rafi’ narrates: The wealth of those people was with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). When Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) returned the wealth to them, they found some deficiency in it. Then, when they calculated it along with the zakat, they found it complete. Those people came to the service of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), so Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Did you think that whatever wealth was with me, I would not pay its zakat?”
