حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي السَّوْدَاءِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سَابِطٍ ، " أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ فَقَرَأَ بِسِتِّينَ آيَةً ، فَسَمِعَ صَوْتَ صَبِيٍّ فَرَكَعَ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَقَرَأَ آيَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ " .
Ibn Sabit narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed the morning prayer, and he recited seven verses in it. Then he heard the sound of a child (crying), so he went into bowing (ruku‘). Then after that, when he stood up (for the second rak‘ah), he recited two verses and went into bowing (ruku‘).
