Nafi' reports: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) led the funeral prayer for seven people together, among whom were both men and women. He placed the men in front of him and the women towards the direction of the Qiblah, and he made a single row for all of them. The narrator states: The body of Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab’s wife and Sayyiduna Ali’s daughter, Sayyida Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her), and her son were placed. The name of her son was Zaid bin Umar. In those days, Sayyiduna Sa'id bin al-As was the governor, and among those present were Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, Abu Hurairah, Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, and Sayyiduna Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with them). I inquired: What is this method? They replied: “This is the Sunnah.”
