حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ صَاعِدٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ ، ثنا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، ثنا وُهَيْبٌ ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نُغَسِّلُ الْمَيِّتَ فَمِنَّا مَنْ يَغْتَسِلُ وَمِنَّا مَنْ لا يَغْتَسِلُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We used to give ghusl (ritual washing) to the deceased, so some of us would perform ghusl afterwards and some would not (i.e., performing ghusl after washing the deceased is not obligatory).
