Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the morning prayer on the day of Arafah, he turned towards his companions and said: "Remain in your places." Then he began to recite: "Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no deity except Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. All praise is due to Allah alone." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would begin reciting this takbeer on the morning of the day of Arafah and continued to recite it (after every prayer) until the Asr prayer on the last day of the days of Tashreeq.
