Lady Maymunah’s (may Allah be pleased with her) servant Sulayman narrates: One day I went to serve Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he was sitting in the courtyard at that time and people were performing the Asr prayer. I said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! People are praying? He replied: “I have already performed the prayer (that is why I am not performing this prayer with the people now), because I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: An obligatory prayer is not to be performed twice in one day.”
