Ibn Shihab narrates from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to set out on a journey before the sun had declined, he would depart, and when the time for ‘Asr began, he would halt and combine both prayers. And if he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not set out until after the sun had declined, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform the Zuhr prayer and then depart.
