Yahya bin Sa'id narrates from his father, who reports from his grandfather: Once he came (to the mosque), and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was leading the Fajr prayer. He performed the prayer behind the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) finished the prayer with salam, this person stood up and performed two rak'ahs. (When he finished), the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked him: "Which two rak'ahs are these?" He replied: "I was not able to perform them before Fajr (meaning these are the two Sunnah of Fajr)." The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) remained silent; he did not say anything.
