بَابُ صِفَةِ السَّهْوِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَأَحْكَامِهِ وَاخْتِلَافِ الرِّوَايَاتِ فِي ذَلِكَ وَأَنَّهُ لَا يَقْطَعُ الصَّلَاةَ شَيْءٌ يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِChapter on the description of forgetfulness in prayer, its rulings, differences in narrations, and that nothing passing in front of one praying invalidates the prayer

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ذَرٍّ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَرِيرِ بْنِ جَبَلَةَ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ عُمَرَ الأَيْلِيُّ ، ثنا ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a person is in doubt whether his prayer is three or four rak‘ahs, he should complete the prayer (i.e., perform one more rak‘ah), because having an addition in it is better than leaving a deficiency in it."
