حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا أَبُو الأَزْهَرِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الأَزْهَرِ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، ثنا أبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنِي فِي الصَّلاةِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا الْمَرْءُ الْمُسْلِمُ صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ فِي صَلاتِهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ الأَنْصَارِيِّ أَخِي بِالْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : أَقْبَلَ رَجُلٌ حَتَّى جَلَسَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ عِنْدَهُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَمَّا السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ فَقَدْ عَرَفْنَاهُ ، فَكَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ إِذَا نَحْنُ صَلَّيْنَا فِي صَلاتِنَا ؟ قَالَ : فَصَمَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى أَحْبَبْنَا أَنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَمْ يَسْأَلْهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " إِذَا صَلَّيْتُمْ عَلَيَّ فَقُولُوا : اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الأُمِّيِّ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الأُمِّيِّ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ " . هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ حَسَنٌ مُتَّصِلٌ.
A narrator named Ibn Ishaq has transmitted this: He narrated to me this hadith about sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in prayer, that when any Muslim sends blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during prayer. (In one narration, these are the words:) Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: A man came and sat in front of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), while we were present around him. That man said: O Messenger of Allah! We have learned how to send peace upon you, but when we are praying, how should we send blessings upon you? The narrator says: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) remained silent, until we wished that the man had not asked this question. But then the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "When you want to send blessings upon me, then say: O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad (peace be upon him), the unlettered Prophet, and upon the family of Muhammad (peace be upon him), just as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. And send blessings upon Muhammad (peace be upon him), the unlettered Prophet, and upon the family of Muhammad (peace be upon him), just as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Surely, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious."
