حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْفَارِسِيُّ ، ثنا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يُوسُفَ الزِّمِّيُّ ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الرَّقِّيُّ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى بِأَصْحَابِهِ ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلاتَهُ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِوَجْهِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَتَقْرَءُونَ فِي صَلاتِكُمْ وَالإِمَامُ يَقْرَأُ ؟ " ، فَسَكَتُوا ، قَالَهَا ثَلاثًا . فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ أَوْ قَائِلُونَ : إِنَّا لَنَفْعَلُ ، قَالَ : " فَلا تَفْعَلُوا وَلْيَقْرَأْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فِي نَفْسِهِ " . لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ الْفَارِسِيِّ .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led his companions in prayer. When he finished the prayer, he turned towards them and said: "Were you reciting during the prayer while the Imam was reciting?" The people remained silent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this statement three times, then one person spoke up: some people have stated this: we did so. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not do so; you should recite Surah Al-Fatihah in your hearts." These are the words of the narrator named Farsi.
