حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ، ثنا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، كَانَ يَأْمُرُ ، أَوْ يَقُولُ : " اقْرَأْ خَلْفَ الإِمَامِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الأُولَيَيْنِ بِ فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ، وَسُورَةٍ ، وَفِي الأُخْرَيَيْنِ بِ فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ " .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to instruct (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words): He used to say: "In following the Imam, in the first two rak'ahs recite Surah Al-Fatihah and along with it any other Surah, and in the last two rak'ahs recite only Surah Al-Fatihah."
