حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ الْعَتِيقُ ، نا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الرَّازِيُّ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَامَ إِلَى جَنْبِي عُبَادَةُ بْنُ الصَّامِتِ فَقَرَأَ مَعَ الإِمَامِ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قُلْتُ لَهُ : أَبَا الْوَلِيدِ ، تَقْرَأُ وَتَسْمَعُ وَهُوَ يَجْهَرُ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، إِنَّا قَرَأْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَغَلَطَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ سَبَّحَ ، فَقَالَ لَنَا حِينَ انْصَرَفَ : " هَلْ قَرَأَ مَعِيَ أَحَدٌ ؟ " ، قُلْنَا : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " قَدْ عَجِبْتُ ، قُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا الَّذِي يُنَازِعُنِي الْقُرْآنَ ، إِذَا قَرَأَ الإِمَامُ فَلا تَقْرَءُوا مَعَهُ إِلا بِ أُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ ، فَإِنَّهُ لا صَلاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِهَا " . مُعَاوِيَةُ ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ ضَعِيفَانِ.
Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Rabee’ Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) stood with me and began reciting (Qira’ah) behind the Imam, while the Imam was also reciting at that time. When they finished the prayer, I said to him: Abu Waleed! You also started reciting, even though you were hearing that the Imam was reciting aloud. So Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes, once we recited in the same way behind the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and it became difficult for him to recite. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said “Subhan Allah.” When he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he said to us: “Was anyone reciting with me?” We replied: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I was astonished, I was wondering who is competing with me in the recitation of the Qur’an. When the Imam is reciting, do not recite along with him, except for Surah Al-Fatihah, because whoever does not recite it, his prayer is not valid.” Mu’awiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) and Ishaq bin Abu Farwah (may Allah have mercy on him), the narrators, are weak.
