Hadith 1219

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ صَاعِدٍ ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ الْحِمْصِيُّ ، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ ، ثنا الزُّبَيْدِيُّ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَلْ تَقْرَءُونَ مَعِيَ وَأَنَا أُصَلِّي ؟ " ، قُلْنَا : إِنَّا نَقْرَأُ نَهُذُّهُ هَذًّا وَنَدْرُسُهُ دَرْسًا ، قَالَ : " فَلا تَقْرَءُوا إِلا بِ أُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ سِرًّا فِي أَنْفُسَكُمْ " . هَذَا مُرْسَلٌ.
Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked us: "Do you recite (Qur'an) with me when I am leading the prayer?" We replied: "We do recite, but we recite quickly." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not recite (with me), except for Surah Al-Fatihah, and that too, recite it in your heart." This narration is mursal.
