قَرَأْتُ فِي أَصْلِ كِتَابِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَابِرٍ الرَّمْلِيِّ بِخَطِّ يَدِهِ ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ خَرَّزَاذَ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّرِيُّ ، قَالَ : صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ الْمُعْتَمِرِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ مِنَ الصَّلَوَاتِ مَا لا أَحْصِيهَا الصُّبْحَ الْمَغْرِبَ فَكَانَ يَجْهَرُ بِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ قَبْلَ فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ، وَبَعْدَهَا يَقُولُ : مَا آلُو أَنْ أَقْتَدِيَ بِصَلاةِ أَبِي ، وَقَالَ أَبِي : مَا آلُو أَنْ أَقْتَدِيَ بِصَلاةِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، وَقَالَ أَنَسٌ : " مَا آلُو أَنْ أَقْتَدِيَ بِصَلاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Muhammad bin Mutawakkil (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: I have performed the Fajr and Maghrib prayers behind Mu'tamir bin Sulayman (may Allah have mercy on him) so many times that I cannot count them. He used to recite "Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim" aloud before Surah al-Fatihah and also before reciting the next Surah. I heard Mu'tamir (may Allah have mercy on him) say: I will always follow the way my father used to pray. My father stated: I will always follow the way Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to pray. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) stated: I will always follow the way the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray.
