حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، ثنا هَمَّامٌ ، وَجَرِيرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَازِمٍ ، قَالا : نا قَتَادَةُ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ : كَيْفَ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " كَانَتْ مَدًّا ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ، يَمُدُّ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، وَيَمُدُّ الرَّحْمَنَ ، وَيَمُدُّ الرَّحِيمَ " .
Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: How did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recite? He replied: His recitation was drawn out. Then he recited: "Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem." He drew out the words "Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem," elongating the word "ar-Rahman" and also elongating the word "ar-Raheem."
